Thrift stores? Thrift SCORES.

IMG_1300 IMG_1302

And just like that, the globe collection I wanted officially has it's first piece.

Who me? I'm just hangin around my apartment in my new thrifted leather hot pants. No biggie. I scored these for just five dollars, and I desperately want to keep them. They are a hair tighter than I would like, but that's what Friday night hot yoga classes are for. *Note to self: stop skipping hot yoga.

Another picture of my sweet new leather shorts? NOPE. I found 2 pairs. That's right. The thrift gods smiled upon me today. I think it has to do with the muffin basket I sent them last week. These ones are ULTRA-tiny though. Calling all XS ladies, they will be in the shop as soon as I figure out how to photograph them without my bum cheeks peeking out the bottom.

This jacket is pretty epic, but the sales clerk who sold it to me was not.
Male Cashier: Uhh, 1979 called. It wants its jacket back.
Me: That call is for you. I wasn't born yet. (Smiles sweetly.)

Thrift on, ladies. Thrift on.

Thrifting For Keeps

Wednesday is thrifting day around these parts. Here are just a few of the random things I picked up today that are not going to be added to the Twitch Shop.

Living room wall update.

When beer and yarn art combine, how can that be bad?

This cross stitch hoop wasn't actually thrifted. I picked it up in Alexia's etsy shop Ruggles Stitch.

So cute.

You can never have too many awkward ceramic animals. I shall name him Claus.

My army green jacket! It took a long time for my thrifting karma to kick in on this one.

New purse. Be prepared to see it in a ridiculous amount of outfit pics before I get around to selling it.

Pick up anything fun for yourself lately?

The Power Of Suggestion

I have said it before, and I will say it again. I am an advertiser's dream. I am distracted by billboards when driving. I watch commercials I could fast forward right through. I really want to buy things I see in magazine ads. I know this about myself, and I still let myself get swept away by their powers of suggestion.

Today's Advertisement Assault: Denim.

Now, I am not much of a denim wearer. I own one pair of black jeans, a pair of cut off shorts, and a few chambray pieces. That was all changed today. You see, it started like this....

I woke up this morning, and watched the latest episode of Australia's Next Top Model on Youtube. You're clearly not judging me here, because this is normal adult behavior.... right? Anyway, they did the above photo shoot featuring all double denim looks.

Then I was off to do some 1/2 price day thrift store shopping, and this happened...

This month's Nylon magazine (The Denim Issue, of course) was sitting in my backseat, forgotten and still unread. I had plenty of time to peruse it while waiting for the first store to open, and throughout the day as I was stuck in many long lines. I thought nothing of this until I made it home, and began to unpack my findings.

It wasn't on purpose. I swear. I only hope that you ladies are in the mood for denim as well, because it looks like the store is going to be packed with it next week.

Neutrality

Jacket: Kenneth Cole
Blouse: Vintage
Skirt: Thrifted
Umbrella: Totes
Purse: Vintage Gucci via Mom (Thanks <3)
Shoes: Dolce Vita

I love the rain. Strike that, I love love love the rain. Unfortunately, I am not used to needing to shoot outfit photos on rainy days. While I would have preferred to stay in my loungers all day drinking coffee and editing photos, I did eventually have to get dressed. I am not saying that I got dressed before noon, but hey compromises needed to be made. The weather definitely played a part in choosing my color palette. Layered neutrals seemed to fit with the cloudy day. Now I am going to make myself some soup, and get back to work.

Ticket To Ride

Recent Thrift Finds

1. Stella <3

Meet Stella. Stella is the boy's new bicycle. Swoon. I am so excited for the romantic bike rides in my immediate future. She needs a little lovin, but Chris is up for the challenge.

This is my neglected bike Viva. She and I have spent so much less time together since Chris and I started dating. Stella should help. (In all honesty I did not thrift Viva. I traded a bike I did thrift for her though, so I guess it's the same thing.)

Where do I get the names that I choose for my possessions? I will never tell.

2. Not another piece of yarn art....

Yes, another piece! It just fits in so well. I will probably have this whole wall covered by the time my lease runs out.

3. To DYE for.

I have an awkward love of tie dye. Love is perhaps the wrong word.... maybe obsession is better. I can't explain it. I just need more tie dye in my life, and believe me there is already plenty. These were scored just this morning. My lucky day? Perhaps.

Hope you all are having great thrift karma.

Hello Sailor

Dress: Thrifted forever 21
Sunglasses: Thrifted
Clutch: Thrifted
Sandals: Thrifted

A few quick snaps before my lunch date with the boy. I was
planning to wash my hair, and get a big curl going to debut my
new chopped locks. I woke up late though, so you are getting two
day old slept on hair. I still like it. The truth is I like any day where
I can get away without showering.... sorry in advance to the rest of
 my hot yoga class.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I am about 2 days
behind in my blog reading, but I fully intend to spend most of
tomorrow in bed catching up on your outfits and adventures.

Thrift Store Jungle

I haven't shared any of my random thrift store purchases with you lately. Want to see the latest additions to my kitsch little apartment? Here it goes... just try not to be jealous of all of my awkward impulse buys.

1. Ceramic Whale

His name is Jacamo. He fits in so well with Henry and Francois. Everyone names their ceramic animals right? Okay, good.

2. Bad 80s bird art. <3

It's stencil art! I love the 80s, and I love these birds. This priceless piece of art (6.99 actually) is going right above my bed.

3. More vintage coffee mugs:

Perhaps you should know that I am weird when it comes to numbers. Maybe it comes from being a Stats major. Maybe I'm just out of my mind. Either way, I must buy dish ware in sets of 4. I cannot, no matter how hard I try, but a single coffee cup. I have passed on the most amazing vintage mugs because they did not come in a set of 4. This might be normal if I lived with 3 other people, but I don't. As the only coffee drinker in my apartment, I need to know that I have 3 other matching mugs in my cupboard.

4. Christian Dior frames:

I was planning to have my prescription put into these, but it turns out I look crazy in them. CA-RAY-ZEE. Now I am debating between giving them away, or having them made into sunglasses.

5. Creepy animals! (Note that I did not actually buy any of these.... with good reason.)

You know that I love owl decor. However, those ones are effing scary. Seriously, could you sleep knowing those crazy eyed owls were in your house? I didn't think so. Also, that lamb made me jump backwards in fear. It's okay to be afraid of inanimate objects.... it is.

Thrift randomness complete.
